Development Brief for Simple iOS App
Objective
To create a basic iOS app for a demonstration involving 100 users seated in a 10x10 grid (e.g., a cinema or similar setting). The app will control the phone screens to display one of four colours (red, green, yellow, blue) in predefined sequences. The app should be simple, reliable, and lightweight, focusing solely on the described functionality.

1 Minimal Design: A simple screen with:
◦ A "Ready" button for the user to confirm participation.
◦ A "Start" button to initiate the sequence (only available to the organiser).
2 Grid Position Assignment:
◦ Each user will input their assigned grid position (e.g., "Row 3, Column 4") at the start. This ensures their screen flashes the correct colours during the demo.
Core Functionality
1 Colour Display:
◦ The screen displays one of four colours (red, green, yellow, blue) based on the user’s assigned position.
2 Predefined Sequences:
◦ Sequence 1:
▪ The entire 10x10 grid (all 100 users) will display each colour in turn.
▪ The sequence will proceed like this: all screens turn red, then yellow, then blue, then green.
◦ Sequence 2:
▪ Split the 10x10 grid into four quadrants (5x5 blocks), each displaying a different colour simultaneously.
3 Timed Synchronisation:
◦ The app will use a single "Start" signal from the organiser to synchronise all devices and play out the sequence on a timer.
Technical Requirements
1 iOS Only: Focus development solely on iPhones for this version.
2 No Backend: Everything should work locally on the devices. Use a manual start button or simple peer-to-peer Bluetooth/Wi-Fi for basic synchronisation.
3 Power Efficiency: Minimise battery drain by limiting brightness or animations where possible.
Deliverables
1 Functioning iOS App:
◦ Distributed via TestFlight for testing with up to 100 users.
◦ Preloaded with the two defined sequences.
2 Basic Instructions:
◦ How to input grid position and run the demo.
3 Testing Support:
◦ Assistance during a single live test with 10–20 devices to ensure synchronisation and functionality.
Constraints
• Timeline: The app must be delivered by mid-February to allow testing and preparation for a live demo in March.
• Scope Limitation: The app is for a controlled demo only—it does not require scaling, advanced features, or backend services.
