Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically skilled U.S.–Latin America Policy Research Consultant to support research and strategic analysis on U.S. domestic and foreign policy with an emphasis on Latin America and the Western Hemisphere. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in political science or international relations, excellent research and writing skills, and an in-depth understanding of U.S. government policy processes.
Key Responsibilities: U.S. Domestic Policy Monitoring: Track and analyze U.S. domestic policies—including immigration, trade, and technology legislation—and draft impact assessments highlighting potential effects on Latin America and bilateral relations.
Regional Policy Research: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on U.S. policies toward Latin America, covering areas such as security cooperation, foreign aid, economic partnerships, and diplomatic or military interventions.
Policy Implementation Case Studies: Investigate and document the implementation and effects of specific U.S. policies in Latin America (e.g., the "Zero Tolerance" immigration policy), identifying outcomes, risks, and opportunities for stakeholders.
Strategic Support: Contribute to broader international relations and policy consulting projects, including political risk assessments, stakeholder analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Latin American Studies, or related fields—or equivalent research and analysis experience.
Proven ability to work with primary U.S. policy sources, such as White House briefings, Congressional records, State Department releases, and other federal publications.
Familiarity with Latin American political systems, regional dynamics, and history of U.S. engagement in the region.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish or Portuguese proficiency a plus).
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with experience synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable insights.
Preferred Experience (Bonus Points): Previous work experience at U.S. think tanks, government agencies, multilateral organizations, or international NGOs.
Background in policy advocacy, security analysis, or international development.
Familiarity with tools for geopolitical risk analysis, such as data visualization, scenario modeling, or stakeholder mapping.
