I run a small business association and I need to set up a database for member management Translate Excel into a Database • You already have the membership details in Excel. That’s a solid starting point. • A database structure should include at least: • Member details: Name, org, role, email, phone, address, etc. • Membership info: Join date, status, renewal date, fees paid. • Engagement: Meetings attended, campaigns/events participated in. • Interests/tags: Thematic areas, working groups, committees. • Comms preferences: Email opt-in, preferred channels, etc. Need Filemaker to: • Import Excel as the base table • Build layouts (forms, dashboards) for easy input. • Set up relationships (e.g., members ↔ events ↔ communications). • Add scripts for exports to email platforms. Need link to comms channels: • Segment members easily (e.g., “attended >2 meetings” + “interested in sustainability”). • Send bulk comms without copy-paste (integrate Mailchimp, SendGrid, Outlook, or Gmail). • Track engagement (open rates, responses, participation).
