Expected duration: less than 1 week I am looking for a highly skilled developer who understands how to inspect, capture, and analyze web requests made by websites (HTTP/HTTPS), even when I do not own the site. The main goal is to identify and document all network calls a specific website makes (API calls, form submissions, headers, payloads, cookies, etc.) so that these requests can be understood and potentially replicated in a separate application or script (for legal, compliant use). Responsibilities Inspect and capture all network requests made by a target website using browser dev tools and/or proxy tools. Identify key API endpoints, request methods (GET/POST/etc.), headers, cookies, query params, and body payloads. Document request/response structures in a clear, developer-friendly format (e.g., JSON examples, parameter lists). Explain any authentication or session mechanisms used (tokens, cookies, headers, etc.). Provide guidance on how to reproduce these requests programmatically (e.g., using Node.js, Python, or similar). Ensure all work respects legal boundaries, public data access rules, and the website’s terms of service. Requirements Strong experience with browser developer tools (Chrome DevTools, Firefox Developer Tools, etc.). Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, headers, cookies, sessions, and common web security mechanisms. Hands-on experience using traffic/proxy tools (e.g., Fiddler, Charles Proxy, Burp Suite, mitmproxy, etc.). Experience with at least one backend language for scripting requests (Node.js, Python, or similar). Ability to analyze obfuscated or minified frontend code to understand how requests are built. Clear written communication skills to document findings in detail. Nice to Have Experience with web scraping (respecting robots.txt / ToS and legal constraints). Experience with automation tools like Puppeteer / Playwright / Selenium. Familiarity with common API patterns (REST, GraphQL, JSON-based APIs).
